Independent service: Missed Bins isn’t affiliated with Reigate & Banstead Borough Council. We provide private collections when council returns aren’t possible or you can’t wait.
At-a-glance: key council rules
- Put your bin out by 6:00am on collection day (boundary next to the public highway).
- Don’t report a miss before 3:00pm on the day — crews may still return.
- If a whole road was missed, crews aim to return the next working day (no report needed).
- You have up to 2 working days after your collection day to report a miss; after that, wait for the next scheduled collection.
- Contaminated recycling can’t be reported as missed. Refuse policy: generally one bin per household with the lid fully closed; side waste is normally not taken.
Last checked: 25 September 2025. Always follow the council website for the latest rules.
How to report a missed bin to the council
- Check your collection day and which bin was due (postcode checker).
- Confirm the bin was out by 6:00am, lid closed, no extra bags at the side.
- Wait until after 3:00pm on the day — crews may still be working.
- If only your property was missed and you’re within 2 working days, submit the council’s online “missed bin” form.
- If it was left due to contamination, remove the wrong items and present it on your next scheduled collection.
When Missed Bins can help
- You’re outside the report window (more than 2 working days after collection).
- Your bin was refused (contaminated, lid won’t close, too heavy, side waste).
- You need a same-day/next-day clear-down (overflowing bins, events, changeovers).
Prices from £29 for the first 240L bin, £19 per additional 240L at the same visit. Larger 360L/660L/1100L quoted fast.
